Junior Research Professorship in Mathematical Finance at the Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa
Description
The Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa announces a public selection procedure, based on qualifications, work to date and possible interview, for the conferral of the following teaching and research appointment within the graduate/undergraduate programs of the Faculty of Sciences:
Subject Area: “Mathematics for Finance”
Subject area sector: subject area ascribable to the subject area sectors MAT/06 "Probability and Mathematical Statistics" and SECS-S/06 "Mathematical Methods for Economics and Actuarial and Financial Sciences"
Teaching and academic commitment requested:
- annual teaching within the graduate/undergraduate programs, tutoring and oral exams of the students, and other responsibilities as foreseen in the Regulations;
- research activities in the subject area and subject area sector indicated above with reference to a specific research project agreed upon with the appointed candidate;
Location: Scuola Normale Superiore – Pisa;
Length of appointment: three years, from 1 October 2010 to 30 September 2013, renewable in accordance with art. 6 of the Regulations;
Gross appointee salary: from a minimum of € 40.000/00= to a maximum of € 46.000/00=, based on the experience and qualifications of the chosen candidate.

Requisites
Applications are invited from candidates who have completed a PhD and have carried out documented post-doctorate research activity for at least two years in the subject area of the appointment, by the deadline for application.
Those situations and conditions which would render a candidate incompatible with the position of teaching and research appointee are indicated in Attachment B of this announcement.
How to apply
The application, which will only be considered if signed by the candidate, must be completed in Italian or English, exclusively based on the format available in the dedicated section of the website (Application form - Att. A) and must include all of the requested information.
It can be presented in only one of the following ways:
- directly (during opening hours) to the Ufficio Protocollo [Documents Registry Office] of the Scuola Normale, located at Via del Castelletto, n. 11 – 56126 Pisa;
- via regular mail to the same address, and it must arrive within the deadline in order to be considered. It should be noted that the arrival register of the Documents Registry Office of the Scuola Normale will be considered proof of arrival date.
The application must be completed with the following attachments:
- CV listing all academic and professional activities, with a brief (max. 3000 characters) Statement of Interest, i.e., an explanation of the academic interests that the candidate would wish to further in case s/he is appointed;
- List of publications;
- qualifications that are considered to be useful to the selection;
- copy of a valid identification document.
Applications lacking a full CV with Statement of Interest, and/or additional application materials and/or additional qualifications which arrive after the deadline will not be taken into consideration.
