Research into the tradition of Corbaccio 2. Exercises in Italian philology: a guided reading of some novellas from Hamilton's autographic Decameron (prof. Claudio Ciociola) 3. An introduction to Italian historical grammar (Dr Luca D'Onghia).
1. The review of the history of the tradition of Corbaccio, as started in an earlier course, aims at exploring the spreading of such work, and students will be asked to review a number of Florentine witnesses of the text.
2. While trying to read the autographic Decameron, the exercises held during the course will provide tools to describe, read, edit, produce linguistic and historical comments to texts from late Medieval manuscripts. Meanwhile, they will offer an opportunity to review the state of texts and editions of Boccaccio’s masterpiece, resulting in general and applied considerations of textual criticism.
