Andrea Ferrara is the Cosmology Professor at Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa and Joint Professor at the Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe, Tokyo. He conducts theoretical and numerical research on the formation of the first galaxies and black hole in the early Universe. He has published more than 250 scientific articles, which have received about 12,000 citations. He has received several international awards, including the prestigious Blaauw Prize and Tinsley Prize; works as a scientific Editor for several international journals and is on the list of the Top 100 Italian scientists. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF) and Deputy Chair of the Advisory Board of the Square Kilometer Array (SKA). He is also actively engaged in scientific outreach, for which he has received the G. Giorgi Medal, through articles and public lectures.
