Centre for Medieval Culture
Il Centro pubblica edizioni critiche di testi e saggi interessanti la storia della cultura medievale europea, finanzia ricerche su temi di storia della cultura medievale europea. Organizza seminari e convegni su argomenti riguardanti la storia della cultura medievale europea.


Centre for Data Processing of Texts and Images in the Literary Tradition
The CTL conducts research that uses computer technology to examine the complex relationship between words and images within the literary tradition. The innovative potential of the research carried out by the CTL derives from this intertwining of different fields, from purely humanistic studies to the systematic use of the most advanced information technology, from the scientific study of perception to relations with contemporary artistic experimentation.


SIGNUM: Center for Computer-Based Humanities Research
SIGNUM is an advanced center for the computer-based research of sequences. Research aims to develop solutions for archiving, cataloguing, researching and analyzing collections of structured sequences (relational archives and catalogues), semi-structured sequences (XML documents) and non-structured sequences (texts or biological sequences).


Research group on private modern philosophy collections
This research group aims to publish online or CD catalogues of important private collections from philosophers and from scholars with large collections of philosophy texts.


Research Group for Ancient Greek Music: Execution Praxis, Forms of Reflection, Transmission of Texts
The common project of the group is a study of the forms of execution praxis in ancient musical genres through the analysis of different sources.


Laboratory of Visual Arts
The Laboratory of Visual Arts of the Scuola Normale carries out activity in the field of the images of reproduction, meant both as visual language and as an integral part of the very notion of cultural heritage.


Linguistics Laboratory
The Laboratory operates in areas of Linguistics like phonetics, phonology, morphology, psycholinguistics, pragmatics and computational linguistics which make use of (and in some cases actually require) specialized instrumentation. It also provides logistical support for all the research activities conducted by linguists at the SNS, even in purely theoretical areas like syntax and semantics.


Laboratory of History, Archaeology and Topography of the Ancient World
Since 1984 the Laboratory has been conducting digs and archaeological prospecting in various areas of Sicily and Magna Graecia, publishing the results and promoting exhibitions, meetings and conventions. Alongside field research, the Laboratory also studies epigraphic documentation and themes such as navigation and commerce in the ancient world.


"G.Nenci" Laboratory of Computer Sciences for Ancient Languages (LILA)
The Laboratory creates, utilizes and disseminates computer tools for classical studies. It is known to scholars especially thanks to the numerous versions of SNS-Greek & Latin for Macintosh and Windows which it has produced.


Interdisciplinary Centre for the Research, Planning and Management of Cultural Heritage
The Centre began operating in 2004. It developed in response to the transformations taking place both on a national and international level which have produced numerous areas of interest for the laboratory.
