Centre for Data Processing of Texts and Images in the Literary Tradition
The CTL conducts research that uses computer technology to examine the complex relationship between words and images within the literary tradition. The innovative potential of the research carried out by the CTL derives from this intertwining of different fields, from purely humanistic studies to the systematic use of the most advanced information technology, from the scientific study of perception to relations with contemporary artistic experimentation.

The Center of Philosophy of the Scuola Normale pursues two main lines of research concerning, on the one hand, political philosophy and, on the other, the relation between philosophy and science in Western and Eastern traditions.

The research group has the goal to develop interdisciplinary studies on the astronomical illustrated manuscripts of the mediaeval tradition (starting from the so called Araea, Latin translations of the Phaenomena of Aratus and related texts) with a special focus on the relations between the illustrations and the texts.

Il Laboratorio opera nell’ambito storico-artistico dall'antichità classica all’età contemporanea. L’intento documentario copre un ventaglio che va dalle indagini non invasive su singole opere alla realizzazione di archivi informatici relativi a fondi grafici e fotografici, epistolari e fonti a stampa.

The Laboratory operates in areas of Linguistics like phonetics, phonology, morphology, psycholinguistics, pragmatics and computational linguistics which make use of (and in some cases actually require) specialized instrumentation. It also provides logistical support for all the research activities conducted by linguists at the SNS, even in purely theoretical areas like syntax and semantics.
