How to apply

For the 2018/2019 academic year the Scuola Normale Superiore has issued a call for 60 first-year student positions and 22 student positions for the fourth year (18 in Pisa and 4 in Florence).

Among the 22 fourth-year student positions, 4 concern the programme in Neuroscience, and 4 that of Materials and Nanotechnologies, both organized under an agreement between SNS and Università di Pisa.

A commission of lecturers and researchers from the Scuola and from other universities will assesses candidates, with a view to identifying their talent for study and research. The tests, which will take place in August and September, are written and oral and cover the disciplinary field chosen by the candidate for their academic career.

For access to the first year, the voto di maturità (the Italian equivalent to British A-level results) is not taken into account for the purposes of the exam; the same goes for any other previous qualification. For access to the fourth year, the results of the three-year degree (laurea triennale) is not taken into account for the purposes of the exam; the same goes for any other previous qualification.
In order to take part in the admission competition for the undergraduate courses, students must register online, on the following platform: serse.sns.it.

The online procedure for entry to the undergraduate competition will be active starting from 1 July 2018.
