Founded in 1810, the Scuola Normale is constantly striving to offer its students unique opportunities for intellectual growth and methodological awareness.

Since 1810, about 6000 students, including three Nobel Prizewinners, a Fields Medal Winner, two Italian Presidents of the Republic and two Italian Prime Ministers.

Study free of charge

Three macro-disciplinary areas (Literature and Philosophy, Science and Political-Social Sciences): in addition to the Normale courses, those selected also attend the corresponding courses of study of the University of Pisa. The study courses are free of charge.

An ideal venue

The main office is in the beautiful historic centre of Pisa, a city not far from the sea, connected by rail and by air with the most important national and international urban centres. In Florence, in the prestigious setting of Palazzo Strozzi, we can find the polo fiorentino of the Scuola Normale.

The SNS-SSSA-IUSS Federation

Since 2018 the Scuola Normale has been federated with the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna of Pisa and the Institute for Advanced Studies of Pavia.
