How to access the orientation courses

The orientation courses of the Normale are aimed at students who are currently attending the penultimate year of high school. Most of the participants will be chosen from among the students nominated by their schools, while the other participants (also chosen from among possible candidates from the last school year) will be admitted by direct application on by those interested, in accordance with the procedures indicated on this page.

Students nominated by their schools

School principals will be invited to nominate, via an email notification sent to them in March, one or more students of merit of the penultimate year (up to a maximum of four) who are interested in participating. Nominations can only be made via e-mail.
Institutions that do not receive this information will be able to request it at the contact e-mail address of the Orientation Courses.
For the nomination to be valid, among other things the final marks for each study subject reported at the end of the previous school years and at the end of the first period of the school year 2020/21 must be indicated. A brief presentation of the candidates (discursive and with some multiple choice fields) and a statement of their reasons for wishing to participate in the Orientation Course are also required.
Candidates' participation with significant results in competitions included in the ministerial programme for the valorisation of excellence may also be taken into consideration. Information may also be requested regarding any school periods spent abroad or, merely for statistical purposes and without any bearing on the evaluation, the study certificate and  profession of their parents.
Nominations may be inserted from Thursday 18th March 2021 until midnight on Friday  23rd April 2021. The list of students selected will be published during May 2021.
The inclusion of students from every region of Italy will be ensured. Students admitted to the courses will not have to pay any fees for participation, apart from any travel expenses incurred in reaching the site of their course (if it takes place in person).

Direct applications for participation

Participation applications can be submitted directly by students from the penultimate or the last year of upper secondary school. Applications may be inserted from Monday 5th April until midnight on Friday 21st May.
To insert their candidature, students must carry out the registration procedure using an access code, which will be issued to them after they have sent an e-mail to the contact e-mail address of the Orientation Courses.
Direct candidatures must include substantially the same data as those specified for nominations by the schools.
Those admitted to the courses using this procedure will participate in the activities of their course free of charge.
They will, however, be charged for their board and lodging during their stay at the site of the course.
The list of those admitted to the courses by direct application will be published on the SNS web site by the end of May and sent directly to the e-mail addresses of the applicants.
The SNS reserves the right to acquire the documentation of the school results of the students selected.
