On 27th April each year, the anniversary of the attack in 2006 in which, during the war in Iraq, Major Nicola Ciardelli lost his life, Solidarity Day takes place in Pisa, organised by the Associazione Nicola Ciardelli.

This event involves all the schools in Pisa of every order and grade, from nursery schools to secondary schools, and is played out with the entire city as its backdrop.

The aim of Solidarity Day is to make young students aware of the themes of Peace and Solidarity.

Fourteenth edition - 2022

Theme - "The Constitution as a foundation for furthering informed participation and as a starting point for pursuing the common aims of sustainable development of Agenda 2030".

The aims and goals of Agenda 2030 were grouped together as the "5Ps": People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership. The five thematic areas thus identified were then linked to their corresponding constitutional principles, in the manner described below and with a view to ascribing a key role of our Day, as a foundation and as a starting point for each intervention, to the constitutional charter:

  • P for People: objectives from 1 to 4 of Agenda 2030 - art. 3, arts. 13-28 and 35-47 of the Italian Constitution
  • P for Planet: objectives 6-7 and from 11 to 15 of Agenda 2030 - art. 3, art. 9, art. 32, arts. 35-47, art. 41-47 and 117 of the Italian Constitution
  • P for Prosperity: objectives 8 and 9 of Agenda 2030 - art. 1, art. 4, art. 9 and arts. 35-47 of the Italian Constitution
  • P for Peace: objectives 5 and 16 of Agenda 2030 - art. 3, art. 11, arts. 29,51 and 117 of the Italian Constitution
  • P for Partnership: objectives 10 and 17 of Agenda 2030 - art. 3 and art. 11 of the Italian Constitution

Two itineraries

Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality: a virtual journey between space and time, history and science

Speakers: Dr. Niccolò Albertini, STG D’Ancona and Dr. Jacopo Baldini, scientific personnel of SMART LAB

Description: By means of a live link-up with the Centro di Realtà Virtuale e Realtà Aumentata (Virtual and Augmented Reality Centre) of the SMART Laboratory, you can take part in a journey of discovery of the latest research in the field of scientific visualisation, immersed in the fascinating world of virtual and augmented reality.

The experiences presented will include the work on the artworks of the Museo Nazionale di San Matteo, which will be the next stop of the visit.

Duration: around 20 min + 10 min question time

Mode of presentation: online (a) or in person (b), depending on the situation regarding the pandemic

a) webinar or interactive visit online

The virtual chemistry laboratory

Speaker: Federico Lazzeri, PhD student SNS, Aula Multimediale San Silvestro

Description: The dream of a chemist is to be able to work directly with his or her subject of study: the molecular systems. This type of direct and immediate knowledge (no longer indirect and mediated) would enable the chemist, a macroscopic being on the metric scale, to travel around the microscopic world of molecules based on the Angström scale. This visit will include a demonstration of how the latest virtual and augmented reality technologies can aid the chemist in the development of new computational theories, models and studies, creating what in future could become the natural evolution of the activity of the experimental laboratory: the virtual laboratory.

Duration: around 20 min + 10 min question time

Mode of presentation: online (a) or in person (b), depending on the situation regarding the pandemic

N.B.: the multimedial room has a capacity of max 30, but of no more than 15 during the pandemic.
