Climate change and critical environmental politics
Programma
The course focuses on climate change as a catalyser of recent environmental politics, and on the meaning of a critical approach to such politics. Classic and recent takes on the notion of critique will be considered and the rise of the theme of climate change will be problematized accordingly, focusing on a range of implied issues, including: uncertainty and the politics of anticipations; the Anthropocene and planetary politics; extractivism and reproductive labour; climate mobilizations and just transition. The course will be organized in meetings, each one dedicated to a specific topic, building also on discussion of assigned readings.
Obiettivi formativi
Goal of the course is to provide a critical understanding of the rise of climate change to a major political issue and its theoretical and social implications.
