Numerical Magneto-hydrodynamics
Prerequisites
No pre-requisites required. Recommended for first-year PhD students, but open to all PhD students.
Programme
This course introduces the equations of magneto-hydrodynamics and examine their broad application to astrophysical systems. We study the different algorithms for solving these equations numerically and the suitability of each method to different environments. We close the course with hands-on sessions for performing numerical simulations using state-of-the art codes on high performance computing clusters.
Educational aims
Provide an introduction to magnetized space fluids and delve into the numerical methods used to study them. Offer hands-on experience with numerical simulations.
