The ethics of the care of the self developed by Michel Foucault will be read in relation to some other authors who have deeply influenced it, such as the historian of ancient philosophy Pierre Hadot, to whom he owes an interpretation of ancient philosophy centered on the practice of spiritual exercices. This will provide some insights into the extent to which Foucault’s ethics of the care of the self can be read as part of a general reflection on philosophy as a way of life.
Obiettivi formativi
The goal is to acquire skills in reading and questioning philosophical texts and developing a collaborative interactions in seminar discussion.
