How to access the Scuola di Orientamento Universitario
Scuole Universitarie Superiori
In the Italian university system, the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna and the Scuola Normale Superiore represent the public institutes with special regulations intended for the education of particularly capable and deserving students. These institutes are accessed exclusively by competitive examination; the students attend high-level study courses that enrich the degree courses of the University of Pisa with a training program that enhances individual talents and encourages an early start in scientific research. The University Orientation School is a joint initiative between the two schools, which present their educational offering in terms of teaching and research potential.
Scuola di Orientamento Universitario
The 2024 edition of the University Orientation School will be divided into two in-person courses, each lasting four days, where students will be able to learn about the contents and perspectives of an excellent university path focused on the valorization of individual potential and the critical approach to particularly current teaching and research topics.
RECIPIENTS
Male and female students enrolled in the penultimate year of upper secondary school for the school year. 2023 – 2024 with a personal and scholastic profile of high merit and an average of no less than 8/10.
There are approximately 180 places available divided into the two courses which will take place in person according to the following calendar:
- Pisa, with the coordination and at the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna: from 18 to 21 June
- San Miniato (PI) - Santa Chiara Conservatory, with the coordination of the Scuola Normale Superiore: from 25 to 28 June
PARTICIPATION METHOD
Each upper secondary school undertakes to disseminate this letter as widely as possible in order to allow students of high merit to present their candidacy directly and independently to the University Orientation School. Students will be able to proceed independently with the registration of their application by connecting to the page www.scuolaorientation.it by 13 May 2024. Please note that only applications to which the certification of school results extracted from the electronic register or provided in PDF format by your institution. All the instructions for participation are also published on the websites of the two Scuole.
SELECTION
The selection will be carried out by a Commission made up of representatives of the two Scuole Universitarie. On the basis of the applications received, the Commission will proceed to identify the candidates to be admitted to the Courses by evaluating the student's academic results and personal profile. In relation to scholastic results, the final average of the third year and the average of the first quarter of the school year will be evaluated. in progress. The average is calculated including all subjects (including behavior and physical and sports sciences) excluding the religious grade, as this is an optional subject. To ensure a balanced representation of the national school population, the participants will also be selected on the basis of a division between 5 regional macro-areas (North West, North East, Centre, South and Islands) taking into account the number of reports received and/or or the number of schools involved.
RESULT OF THE SELECTION
The list of selected male and female students and their respective assignment to the courses will be published on the websites of the two Scuole Universitarie Superiori (Sant'Anna and Normale) by the end of May.
Admitted male and female students will receive the invitation letter containing all the information for participation in the activities at the email address indicated when registering their application.
The programs of the two courses, designed in agreement between the two Schools, will focus on lessons, round tables, seminars and workshops in such a way as to offer similar opportunities to the participants regardless of the course to which they will be assigned. The assignment of the selected male and female students to the courses will be carried out during the selection phase, taking into account the availability indicated by the male and female students in the application form, with attention to a balanced representativeness of the group in terms of geographical origin, school attended and university study interests.
