Projects for academic entrepreneurship

The Normale is involved each year in the organisation of Start Cup Toscana, the competition of entrepreneurial ideas coming from the world of research organised by all the Universities and Scuole of Tuscany, as a regional stage of the Premio Nazionale per l’Innovazione (the National Prize for Innovation).

The Normale is a partner of the Contamination Lab (CLab), a project co-funded by the MIUR with the aim of creating a physical and virtual space for meeting and knowledge contamination, in which to train students and research personnel in the entrepreneurial culture.

The Normale is engaged in European network projects, in particular the project EELISA UNFOLDS (UNlocking Full innOvation capacity buiLDing and entrepreneurShip) designed to promote entrepreneurship among PhD students through collaboration with a network of European universities. The Normale organises training activities regarding innovation and the selection of spin-off and start up events belonging to the partnership with the purpose of receiving mentorships, training and prizes.

The Normale and IUSS of Pavia have issued the "POCHI - Proof Of Concept High Innovation" Call for Proposals, aimed at receiving submissions from professors, researchers, research fellows, PhD candidates, students, and other research personnel working at each Institution. The funding is intended for pre-competitive development projects of entrepreneurial ideas and research outcomes, both in the field of hard sciences (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics – STEM) and in the field of social sciences and humanities (SSH). Each project can have a maximum duration of 24 months, with funding ranging from a minimum of €10,000 to a maximum of €30,000 for each selected project. The deadline for pre-submission is February 29, 2024.
