Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa: Ph.D. Physics (70/70 cum laude), January 11th 2003. Thesis supervisor: Prof. Mario P. Tosi; title of the Thesis: “Spin correlations in quantal electron fluids”.
University of Pisa: “Laurea” degree in Physics (110/110 cum laude), October 26th 1999. Thesis Supervisor: Prof. Mario P. Tosi; title of the Thesis: “Quasi-one-dimensional aspects of the dynamics of elongated Bose-Einstein condensates”.
I am a theoretical condensed matter physicist working mainly on many- body physics in condensed matter systems.
During my Ph.D. studies I focused most of my work on two-dimensional electron liquids and ultracold atomic gases confined in low- dimensional geometries.
Soon after finishing my Ph.D., I became interested in ferromagnetic (Ga,Mn)As semiconductors, many-body effects in spin-orbit-coupled systems and in spin-polarized transport, and in pseudospintronics. Since October 2006 I have been working on electron-electron interaction effects in single- and double-layer graphene.
