Minority Cultures (PhD)
Prerequisiti
No prerequisites (other than a good understanding of English), open to all years.
Programma
Through a series of 10 lessons of 2 hours each, the topic will be addressed in a transversal and interdisciplinary way. History, art history and archaeology, classics, linguistics, literature, philology and philosophy will help shed light on minority cultures. Whether it is ethnic, religious, social minorities, or any other type, we will try to understand how some groups are integrated, marginalized or made invisible. What cultural expressions do they build to exist? How are minority cultures put into circulation and how do they interact with dominant cultures? What forms of mediation exist and what kind of evidence gives access to them? Attention will be paid to the forms of cultural hybridization, self-fashioning, power of minority cultures and intersectionality between different forms of "subordination". This first transversal Seminar of the Class of Humanities is also conceived as an interdisciplinary laboratory where methods, concepts and tools can dialogue. All the seminars will be held in English.
Obiettivi formativi
The main objective of the Seminar, in addition to the contents inherent to each lesson, is to promote the transversal and interdisciplinary approach of the chosen time.
