Prerequisiti

Students should be familiar with hydrodynamics and basic principles of astrophysics and cosmology. Knowing how to program in Fortran and/or C is very desirable. Designed for PhD but open also to Master students

Programma

In this course we are going to go through numerical techniques for solving the equations of hydrodynamics in an astrophysical context. We are also going to focus on gravity solvers and numerical techniques to follow radiative transfer on high performance computing facilities. Each lecture will be accompanied by a hands-on session.

Obiettivi formativi

The students will have a deep understanding of state-of-the-art numerical techniques, adaptable to high-performance computing facilities. They will be able to structure and run at least a basic cosmological code.
