Historical Archives Office

The Historical Archives Office ensures the smooth running of the administration and management of the Archives Centre of the Scuola Normale Superiore.

Main activities

Partly through its administrative and accounting management, the office supports the Archives Centre in carrying out the activities specified in Art. 3 (“Activities of the Archives Centre”) for the functions referred to in Art. 2.
(“Aims") of the prevailing Regulations of the Archives Centre (conservation, protection, development, and enhancement of the archival and documentary heritage), including the following:

  • conservation and protection of the archival heritage of the Scuola Normale and of that entrusted to the management of the Scuola Normale, guaranteeing the use and consultation of the same also in online and digital modes;
  • reorganisation of the Scuola Normale's library storage, archival collections, and archival documentation;
  • dissemination of the research tools developed in compliance with national and international standards;
  • promotion and organisation of documentary exhibitions, also in collaboration with external subjects.

The archivist in particular fulfils the tasks as specified in Art. 6 (“Administration”) of the prevailing Regulations of the Archives Centre of the Scuola Normale Superiore.
