The activities of the DipE were co-ordinated and monitored from the outset by the project PI, Prof. Luigi Ambrosio, in contact with the various collaborators involved, and in consultation with an internal Scientific Committee composed of the following lecturers: Prof. Cappelli, Prof. Cattaneo, Prof. Ferrara, Prof. Giovannetti, Prof. Koch, Prof. Marmi and Prof. Rolandi.

In September 2019, following the appointment of Prof. Ambrosio as Director of the Scuola Normale Superiore, the role of project PI was entrusted to Prof. Stefano Marmi, lecturer in Mathematical Physics, and an expert in the theory of dynamic systems and financial mathematics. Subsequently, and in line with the procedural proposal, at the start of 2020 the Scientific Committee approved the formation of an Advisory committee providing support for the development of the project, consisting entirely of members external to the Scuola Normale:

Research Grants:

The activities of the DipE have enabled the setting up of annual research grants on the following topics:

• Explainable Artificial Intelligence, in particular in methods of Machine Learning and Neural Networks;
• Real-time particle reconstruction in LHC experiments;
• Computational models for the study of carbon-based electrodes;
• Multilevel density functional theory for large molecular systems ;
• Computational methods for Bio-informatics.
