Michele Fiaschi

Since December 2013 I have served as Head of the IT Department (Servizio Sistemi Informativi) at the Scuola Normale Superiore, where I have been working since 2009. Previously, I worked as a freelance professional developing websites, digital services and multimedia applications for public and private organisations.

I coordinate the analysis, design and development of IT solutions supporting teaching, research and administrative processes, contributing to the School’s digital transformation. My work includes project management, process simplification and digitalisation (including paperless workflows), procurement and management of institutional platforms and applications, and system integration and interoperability. I also oversee the evolution of data analytics and Business Intelligence tools, as well as the adoption of automation and artificial intelligence solutions (for example virtual assistants and support for content classification), with a strong focus on security, transparency, data protection, accessibility and usability. The goal is to deliver reliable, high-quality digital services for the entire School community, including people who study, teach and work here.

I am also interested in the performing arts and in digital technologies for live performance. Since 1999 I have collaborated as a Lighting Designer with local theatre companies, and I pursue research and experimentation on immersive solutions for theatre and live events, with a particular focus on video mapping, natural interaction and virtual scenography.
