Social movements studies across fields. Bridging disciplinary gaps
Programma
Social movement studies have consolidated as a field of studies in the Fordist era, characterized by expectations of rationality and predictability. In late neoliberalism, social movement studies require however adaptations. To be able to address how movements emerge from and often oppose multiple crises. Building upon but also challenging some traditional assumptions, these course aims at bridging the studies of social movements to some main other fields, including the fields of studies around capitalism, democracy, revolutions, labour, gender, generation, colonialism and peace.
Obiettivi formativi
The course aims at developing theoretical debates supported by empirical analysis. In particular, research developed within the Cosmos center will provide illustrations.
