Physicist, he worked at the beginning of his research activity in the fields of advanced lithography and scanning probe microscopy. In 1999 he was hired by SNS on the scientific-technical staff and in 2008 he became a chief operating officer (COO) at NEST laboratory, the nanoscience center of SNS. Over the years, he has been involved in innovation activities, also becoming the technical-scientific manager of the NEST Competence Center in Nanotechnology (CCNEST), a center co-financed by the Regione Toscana and dedicated to technology transfer in the sector of nanotech.
