Help desk to combat gender-based violence

The Sportello interuniversitario contro la violenza di genere (the inter-university help desk to combat gender-based violence) arose from the coordination of the so-called “CUGs” of the Scuola Normale, the Scuola Sant'Anna and the University of Pisa, to intensify the commitment of the three universities to the protection of victims of acts of physical, psychological, sexual, moral or economic violence.
Anonymous, free of charge and with no obligation to report the abuse, the Sportello (the help desk) is available to all those who study, carry out research, teach or work at the Scuola Normale (at the Pisa and Florence sites), at the Sant'Anna or at the Unipi.
Anyone can contact the help desk who has been a victim of acts of discrimination or gender-based violence – or in any case concerning their gender identity and/or sexual orientation – even in places other than the above mentioned universities.
The Sportello (whose management has been entrusted to the Casa della Donna of Pisa) offers, both in Italian and in English, a listening, assistance and information service and – in case of specific needs or complex situations – redirects people to structures, associations, judicial or health-related institutions in the area.
To ensure the anonymity of those who contact the service, the help desk is at a secret location and can be accessed by sending an email to antiviolenza@ateneipisa.it  or by calling 050 2215104 during the following hours: Tuesday 10.00 AM - 1.00 PM, Monday 12.30 PM - 2.30 PM, Thursday 4.00 PM - 6.00 PM to speak directly with an operator. There is also a voicemail service, and an operator will contact those who have left a message to schedule a telephone or in-person counseling appointment.
