Emanuele Berti is Associate Professor of Latin Language and Literature at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa. He was trained at the same Scuola Normale, where he attended first the Undergraduate Course then the PhD Course, and at the University of Pisa, where he was a student of Gian Biagio Conte. His research interests are directed especially at Latin literature of the early imperial age, with particular attention to the role of rhetoric and its influences on poetry and other literary genres; he has published numerous essays and contributions on authors such as Seneca the Elder and declamation, Seneca the philosopher, Ovid, Lucan, and Tacitus (Dialogus de oratoribus); his other fields of research include Virgilian philology and Latin astronomical poetry.
