JWST first results: a revolutionary view of early galaxies

Abstract
The launch of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has opened an unprecedented discovery space. Its enormous gain in sensitivity (10-1000x) and spatial resolution (3-7x) compared to its predecessors, combined with its infrared wavelength coverage (0.6-28 micron), are leading to revolutionary results.
The first 1.5 yr of observations has been incredibly lively and has brought to several unexpected findings. Some of these results are still not completely understood and have the potential to change our understanding of the galaxy evolution paradigm.
I will present the major JWST results in the field of galaxy evolution, focusing in particular on the earliest and most distant galaxies.
