The Erasmus+ Programme, in which the Normale has participated successfully since its early editions, offers students, teaching staff, research staff, and administrative staff the opportunity to have a formative experience abroad.
Some of the main objectives of the programme include enhancing knowledge of a foreign language and building a European society through the study and training of young people in intercultural contexts.
Erasmus+ Study
Students at undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. level who are regularly registered in one of the SNS courses at the time of application and throughout the entire period abroad can undertake study and/or research activities at European and non-European higher education institutions that have signed specific Erasmus+ agreements with the Normale. They will receive a monthly grant for a total of maximum 12 months of mobility per study cycle.
Thanks to a specific multilateral agreement signed by the Normale with many of its foreign partners, and the University of Pisa or Florence, students of the undergraduate courses have the opportunity to have the activities performed during the mobility period abroad recognised towards their academic career at their home university, subject to approval by the academic referents.
The call for applications is published every year in December. The assignment of positions follows a selection procedure based on the criteria defined in the call. Successful candidates will be notified of their assignation by the Internationalisation Service, where they can get information about the necessary formalities (procedures, deadlines, etc.) for admission to the host institutions, for which they are directly responsible.
Erasmus+ Traineeship
Students at undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. level who are regularly registered in one of the SNS courses at the time of application can undertake internships at universities, research centres, companies, and institutions located in European and non-European countries, receiving a monthly grant for a total of maximum 12 months of mobility per study cycle.
The Erasmus+ Traineeship mobility can be organised for short periods (from 5 to 30 days) and longer periods (from 60 to 360 days) and can also take place after the legal completion of the study programme.
The Erasmus+ Traineeship call, managed directly by the Normale, is published with a deadline every year in September.
Students must independently identify the host institution and contact a relevant referent to define the details of the mobility. The assignment of positions is handled by the Interfaculty Mobility Committee and takes place after a selection based on the criteria defined in the reference call.
“Talent@Work” Consortium
Since 2010, the Normale has been participating in the Erasmus+ Talent@Work consortium, together with the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, which acts as the lead institution.
Within this consortium, an Erasmus+ TAW Traineeship call is published every year in February/March, offering additional internship opportunities at universities, research centres, companies, and institutions located in European and non-European countries.
This call significantly expands the number of mobility positions available to SNS students in the European Union and other countries, following the same rules as the Erasmus+ Traineeship call.
Erasmus+ for Staff
All staff members of the Normale are offered an important opportunity for professional training through the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Training programme, which allows them to undertake a short work experience at a higher education institution in a European or non-European country. A specific call for technical-administrative staff is published annually in January/February.
As for the teaching and research staff of the Normale, they can apply for Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Training or for Teaching activities, which include job shadowing and/ir teaching at one of the higher education institutions with which the School has signed Erasmus+ agreements, thanks to an open call.
Erasmus Charter for Higher Education
The Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) is the document issued by the European Commission to higher education institutions that apply to participate in the activities offered by the Erasmus programme.
Through the ECHE and the Erasmus Policy Statement 2021-2027, the Normale commits to upholding the fundamental principles of the programme such as inclusion, transparency, and non-discrimination, promoting the participation of individuals with fewer opportunities, environmentally respectful practices, and digital mobility management.
