Prerequisites

This course is intended for undergraduate students and is open to PhD students. Knowledge of Latin and ancient Greek is required.

Syllabus

The course is devoted to the history of Roman Sicily from the middle republican age to late antiquity. It will focus on both the internal dynamics of the island and the relationship between the province and the central government. Mainly themes of economic and social history will be developed, with particular attention to aspects of longue durée.
