Federico Ricci received his bachelor’s degree in history (2020) and master’s degree in Historical Sciences (2022), specializing in history of political institutions at the University of Bologna. In 2021 he was the winner of an Erasmus grant at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.

His research topics include the history of justice systems in contemporary ages, with a focus on the stages of transitional justice, and the development of judicial institutions and criminal legislation in correlation with the public sphere. In addition to his doctoral research project (Prof. Francesco Benigno, Prof. Francesca Sofia), which focuses on the historical-judicial reconstruction of the Notarbartolo trial (1893-1904), he is working on the history of the Assize Courts and the role of popular juries in liberal Italy.
