He has an MA in Classics (Florence, 1997) and a PhD in Greek and Latin Philology (Florence/Pisa, 2001). Since 2012 he has been teaching Ancient Philosophy at the University of Florence, where he is currently Associate Professor. He is associate editor of the journal Oxford Studies in Ancient Philosophy. In 2016 he was Visiting Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford.
 
His main research interests are in logic, philosophy of language, physics, and metaphysics in Plato, Aristotle and Hellenistic Stoicism. He has also broader interests in Greek literature of the archaic and classical period, textual criticism and various areas of philosophy (philosophy of language, philosophical logic, epistemology, metaphysics).
