Francesco Cardarelli
Associate Professor
Fisica per le scienze della vita, l'ambiente e i beni culturali (SSD: PHYS-06/A)
Francesco Cardarelli has been an Associate Professor of Physics for Life Sciences, Environment, and Cultural Heritage at the Scuola Normale Superiore since 2018. Previously, he worked as a researcher at the National Research Council (Nanoscience Institute) and the Italian Institute of Technology (Center for Nanotechnology Innovation) and as a post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of California, Irvine.
He completed his studies in Biological Sciences (Bachelor’s degree, 2003) and specialized in Molecular Biophysics (PhD, 2009) at the Scuola Normale Superiore.
Cardarelli is the author or co-author of over 130 scientific publications and the coordinator of national (PRIN) and international projects (ERC consolidator). His primary contributions are in the study of nanosystems for nanomedicine drug delivery and their interactions with biological systems.
He is also interested in developing high spatio-temporal resolution optical microscopy techniques for studying cellular processes at the nanoscale.
