Transnational Governance

Marcel Artioli is a PhD student in Transnational Governance at Scuola Normale Superiore, Firenze (2023-2027). He holds a master’s in international relations from the Graduate Program in International Relations San Tiago Dantas (UNESP, UNICAMP and PUC-SP). He earned his bachelor’s in international relations from São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2012) with an exchange period at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Business Administration at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) in Spain.

He was a fellow at the Managing Global Governance (MGG) Academy 2022 at the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) in Bonn, Germany. He was a researcher at the Observatório de Regionalismo (ODR) (2016-2019), and at the Center for International Studies and Analysis (NEAI), São Paulo State University.  He is a professional member of the Brazilian Association of International Relations (ABRI).

His PhD project aims to investigate the roles of governmental and non-governmental actors in shaping and implementing climate change policies in Brazil, an environmental power in the international system. The study will explore the dynamics of transnational climate change governance, examining the actions of various actors and their partnerships in addressing climate change challenge. His research interests are international political economy, sustainable development and public policy, global environmental politics, transnational climate change governance, Brazilian and international climate policies.
