Ministerial Funding
Between a minimum of € 1,000,000 and a maximum of € 1,200,000.
Research Group Composition
From 4 to 6 research units belonging to different universities, AFAM institutions (Higher Education in Art, Music and Dance), or public research bodies.
Eligible Applicants (PI and Unit Coordinators)
- Tenured professors and researchers, RTD (fixed-term researchers), or RTT (tenure-track researchers)—provided their positions are not funded by other public grants—and permanent staff from EPR (Public Research Bodies) / AFAM.
- 15% of the resources are reserved for projects coordinated by PIs under the age of 40 at the date of the call (with extensions granted for maternity leave or illness).
Participation Constraints
- Each person can only appear in a single project proposal for PRIN 2026 or PRIN 2026 Hybrid, regardless of their role (PI, unit coordinator, or participant).
- The candidate applying as PI must guarantee a minimum time commitment of 20% to the project (equivalent to 690 hours over the three-year period).
- The PI of a FIS, ERC, or other highly qualified research program grant (e.g., FISA, Rita Levi Montalcini) may only participate as a member of a research unit.
Eligible Costs
Personnel, equipment, and operating costs, with indirect costs (overheads) calculated at 45% of personnel costs. The grant is disbursed in a single 100% advance payment.
