Key issues in environmental sociology and political ecology
Programma
Environmental sociology and political ecology have developed independently, the former as a sociological fields derived from urban and rural sociology, the latter as an interdisciplinary field including contributions from sociology, anthropology, geography, STS, political philosophy, feminist and decolonial studies, critical political economy and other disciplines. A convergence has however occurred on a series of issues, related to the multiple crises and transformations of recent years. The course will focus on some of these, chosen for their relevance, contentiousness and intersection of theoretical and empirical aspects.
The course will be organized in meetings, where the teacher and the students will discuss selected topics, building on assigned readings.
