Pietro Diona
Allievo del Corso di Perfezionamento/PhD
Nanosciences
Pietro Diona earned his bachelor’s degree in Physics Engineering (2019) from the Politecnico of Turin, in the educational path of excellence “Young Talents”. Afterwards, he received the master’s degree in Micro and Nanotechnologies for integrated systems (2021) from the Institute Grenoble INP Phelma (École Nationale supérieure de physique, électronique, matériaux), the master’s degree in Nanotechnologies for ICTs (2021) from the Politecnico of Turin, and the joint master’s degree (2021) from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). Subsequently, he carried out research activities in Zurich, at the department of Magnetism and Matter Physics of ETH, headed by Prof. Pietro Gambardella.
Since 2023, Pietro Diona has been a doctoral student (XXXIX cycle) in Nanoscience at the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa. His doctoral thesis will be carried out in collaboration with the department of Quantum Materials Theory of the Italian Institute of Technology (supervisor Dr. Sergey Artyukhin).
His research activities, both theoretical and experimental in the field of condensed matter physics, concern the study of the magnetic domain walls, i.e. topological sine-Gordon solitons, in non-uniform ferrimagnetic systems.
