The academic year of the Scuola Normale is celebrated each year on October 18th, the anniversary of its foundation.
Lessons and seminars are usually held between October and June, with a 3 week break for the Christmas holidays and a 1 week break for the Easter holidays.
While didactic activities at the Normale are not officially organised in semester, the first semester for incoming study mobilities is conventionally considered to run from October to January and the second semester from February to June.
At the end of a study period at the SNS, the competent offices issue a Transcript of Records to visiting students attesting to the activities carried out, any exams taken and the relative marks and credits.
The students of the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy and of the Faculty of Sciences attend lectures and have access to the facilities in Pisa.
