Study Programmes and Internships for International Students
Students who wish to come and study at the Normale within the Erasmus/SEMP programme, or other exchange programmes governed by bilateral agreements between the Normale and a partner institution, must apply from their home university.
Erasmus code of the Normale: I PISA02
PIC code: 999886962
Once selected, they will be able to register with the SNS using the appropriate form.
Deadlines for application:
30 June, for the entire academic year (from October to July) or for the first semester (October-February)
30 September, for the second semester (March-July)
It is also possible to carry out study periods at the Normale independently, regardless of Erasmus or other exchange programmes, for a maximum period of one academic year.
This type of request does not have fixed deadlines, but given that it involves a rather long process, it is advisable for those interested to apply with at least two months' notice.
Before submitting their request, students must choose a tutor, among the teaching staff of the Scuola Normale, who will accept their application.
During their stay, students have free access to lectures, seminars, library and other facilities, on a par with students enrolled at the Normale; they can also request accommodation at one of the Colleges of the Normale, by previously checking availability.
Students from other national or international institutions can also carry out an internship at the Normale or in one of its laboratories. The first step is to choose a tutor, within the teaching staff of the Normale, who will accept their request. The intern’s home institution must then be available to sign an internship agreement with the Normale, and a related risk declaration required by Italian legislation on safety at work.
The internship can also take place as part of an Erasmus+ project. The procedure is the same, but the internship agreement will be replaced by the Erasmus+ Agreement.
Since the process is quite long and complex, it is recommended, also in this case, to apply well in advance.
