Giovanni D’Achiardi (1936-1937)

A geologist and Rector of the University of Pisa, D'Achiardi was designated to lead the Scuola Normale by the then National Minister of Education, De Vecchi di Val Cismon, who in 1936 had temporarily dismissed Giovanni Gentile.
Among the students of the D'Achiardi directorship was Alessandro Natta.

On August 7, 1944, D'Achiardi, in his capacity as senator, was reported with the following motivation: "Senators held responsible for having maintained fascism and made the war possible both with their votes and with individual actions, including propaganda carried out inside and outside the Senate". The order did not take place to proceed due to death.
