About EELISA

EELISA (European Engineering Learning Innovation and Science Alliance) is a European university alliance of ten institutions in eight countries. It involves an academic community of over 190,000 students, lecturers and technical-administrative personnel, and promotes training courses and shared projects in a stable framework of international co-operation.
It is named after Elisa Leonida Zamfirescu – among the first female engineers in the world – to emphasise an idea of scientific and technical training that is open, inclusive and mindful of the contribution of all, independently of gender or provenance.

The EELISA Mission and Model

The alliance's mission is to enhance the competence of professionals capable of tackling complex issues featuring in the European and world context, such as ecological transition, digital transformation and the ethical implications of innovation. In this perspective, EELISA promotes the integration of the disciplines of engineering, basic sciences and human sciences, fostering experiences of interdisciplinary and transnational learning, based on collaboration among universities and on interdisciplinary dialogue.

Communities & Digital Campus: The heart of the alliance

EELISA is not merely an agreement among universities, but a living space for collaboration which is manifested in the following:

  • EELISA Communities: Thematic work groups composed of students, lecturers, researchers and external partners, tackling real challenges (from artificial intelligence to the cultural heritage) through workshops, challenges and projects in common. EELISA Communities
  • The technological platform that overcomes distance and connects you with colleagues across Europe. It is a single entry point to register for activities and discover opportunities for mobility, joint research, innovation, and access to research infrastructures. EELISA Digital Campus

EELISA @ SNS

The operative and strategic co-ordination of the EELISA activities within the Scuola Normale Superiore is entrusted to the ELO (EELISA Local Office).
This structure guarantees the integration between the directives of the Alliance and the academic organisation of the Scuola, under the supervision of the Scientific co-ordinator, Fabio Beltram, and of the Academic Co-ordinator, Gianfranco Adornato.
