Palestine and Visual Activism

Nicholas Mirzoeff I Professor and Chair of the Department of Media, Culture, and Communication at New York University. 

Over the course of three decades, Mirzoeff has contributed to the foundation and development of Visual Culture studies through several monographs, including An Introduction to Visual Culture (1999), The Right to Look (2011), How to See the World (2015), and White Sight (2023). His most recent book, To See In the Dark: Palestine and Visual Activism (2025), explores how images, and especially video, viewed outside Palestine enabled a dramatic switch in public opinion, leading to a global uprising against the genocide.
