Peace, Rights, and Participation: COSMOS Research Between Results and New Perspectives

How do people mobilize for peace, the right to health, and housing? What forms does solidarity with Palestine take? How are political participation and the commitment of the new generations changing?

On October 26, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, in the Aula Dottorandi of Palazzo Vegni, COSMOS presents a meeting dedicated to completed research and ongoing and future projects.

Donatella della Porta will open the meeting with an overview of COSMOS's journey, achievements, and future prospects. This will be followed by presentations of the COSMOS/PRIN research on peace mobilizations by Federica Stagni, on the right to housing by Carla Mannino, and on health by Anastasia Barone and Angela Adami. Stella Christou will then present the results of the analysis of protest events in solidarity with Palestine.

The second part will focus on research tools and projects under development. Martin Portos will discuss ongoing work and prospects for protest event analysis; Giuseppe Cugnata and Lorenzo Zamponi will illustrate the opportunities offered by questionnaires collected during demonstrations. Finally, Carla Mannino will present research on youth and political participation, based on longitudinal interviews tracking the experiences of the participants over time.

The meeting will leave room for questions, comments, and suggestions to foster dialogue among the different projects and envision new collaborations. Concluding remarks will be delivered by Lorenzo Bosi and Donatella della Porta.
