Discourse theory in populism research: Method, Theory, Concepts

‘Populism’ constitutes one of the most hotly debated topics in contemporary politics and academia. Recent global developments have undoubtedly generated significant research material and a new impetus to the scope and impact of populism research. However, major challenges have also been created, requiring urgent attention. This talk will discuss some of these challenges highlighting the way a discursive perspective deals with them: what is exactly the distinct discursive orientation in populism research? How does it further our understanding of populism?
