Where is tree-level string theory?
Abstract
Since string theory is the only known weakly-coupled theory that is a consistent UV completion of gravity, one can naturally ask how unique it is. In other words, how similar do other potential theories of gravity have to be? In this talk we will bound the space of 10d supersymmetric graviton amplitudes and see where string theory falls within these. We will briefly review the numerical bootstrap tools used and then look at the bounds we find on the effective field theory coefficients. We then make mild spectral assumptions which have profound consequences on the shape of the bounds and the full spectrum of extremal amplitudes.
