Iqbal Riza "An Uncertain World"

Iqbal RizaSpecial Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United NationsSecretary-General  Kofi Annan appointed Mr. S. Iqbal Riza as Under Secretary-General and Chef-de-Cabinet in January  1997. Mr. Riza held this position till January 2005, when he was designated as Special Adviser to the Secretary-General, a position in which he continues with Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon.Mr. Riza previously had served as Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Bosnia-Herzegovina during 1996. Prior to this assignment, he was Assistant Secretary-General in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, from 1993 to 1995.Mr. Riza holds master’s degrees in Political Science from the University of Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan, and in International Law from the Fletcher School of International Law, Boston, USA.
